Ned Dennehy
Ned Dennehy? Oh, he's one of those faces you spot and instantly think, “Wait, I know that guy from somewhere.” Born in December ’65, Dublin’s own, he’s been popping up all over the place—doesn’t matter if it’s a gritty British crime flick or some dark, twisty Irish drama. The guy’s got range, seriously. If you caught Tyrannosaur, you probably remember Tommy—yeah, that was Ned, leaving a mark in a film that’s honestly not for the faint of heart. He’s got this knack for slipping into roles that are a little rough around the edges, a bit haunted, but always magnetic.
And don’t even get me started on his TV work. Flashback to the late ‘90s with Mystic Knights of Tir na Nog—real throwback stuff, a bit campy but classic. Then there’s his turn in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1. Sure, Alderton isn’t exactly a household name, but blink and you’ll miss him weaving through that magical chaos. He’s also shown up in Blitz and the indie gem Downhill, just to keep things unpredictable.
But really, it’s the telly where he truly shines. Damo and Ivor, Parade’s End, and, of course, the absolute juggernauts: Luther and Peaky Blinders. Not to mention, leading roles in Banished and Dickensian—because apparently, sleep is for the weak. The guy’s basically a chameleon, never afraid to dive into the weird, the wicked, or the wonderfully strange.
