Neelu Kohli
Neelu Kohli, sometimes spelled Nilu Kohli, is basically a veteran when it comes to the Indian screen. We're talking over two decades, which is wild if you think about it. She’s popped up everywhere—TV, movies, web series, you name it. If you’ve ever been sucked into Hindi serials, you’ve probably seen her in Naamkarann, Shastri Sisters, or Mere Angne Mein, probably playing that one character you end up loving (or hating, depending on the script). On the big screen, she’s done some memorable supporting roles in movies like Housefull 2, Hindi Medium, and Goodbye. Not to mention, she’s dipped her toes into the whole web series scene with Rasbhari, which, let’s be real, not everyone from her generation has managed to pull off.
Born as Neelu Dugal in Ranchi (that’s in Jharkhand, by the way), she grew up in a Punjabi household and did the usual rounds at Loreto Convent, Nirmala College, and then Government College for Girls in Chandigarh. Typical North Indian upbringing, honestly. After she got married, she shifted base to Mumbai—something tons of actors do, since that’s the heart of Bollywood and all. Unfortunately, she lost her husband Harminder Singh Kohli in March 2023, which must’ve been rough. But even after that, Neelu’s still hustling, still acting, and still showing up on sets. She’s kind of the definition of a working actor who isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
