Nicolas Cage
Nicolas Cage, originally born Nicolas Kim Coppola out in Long Beach, came from a seriously creative family—his dad was a literature professor, his mom was a dancer, and his uncle’s literally Francis Ford Coppola. Heavy hitters, right? Still, Nick ditched the famous last name early on so he wouldn’t just ride the family coattails. That move paid off big time. By the late '80s, he’d landed a bunch of weird, unforgettable roles. If you think about it, he really carved out his own legend.
He did a stint at Beverly Hills High—studying theatre, but honestly, he bailed before graduation. His first real movie gig was just a tiny part in Fast Times at Ridgemont High, but most of his scenes got chopped. That sucked, so he ended up selling popcorn at the Fairfax Theater, probably thinking, "Welp, guess this is as close as I get to Hollywood." But then, outta nowhere, he scored an audition with his uncle’s film Rumble Fish, just by reading lines with other actors, and boom—he landed a role. That led straight to Valley Girl, which totally put him on the map.
He got super into method acting for a while—like, he once trashed a street vendor’s remote-control car just to get into character for The Cotton Club. That’s commitment, or maybe just a little bit unhinged, you know? Off-screen, Cage had a wild love life: dated Jenny Wright for a couple years, then Uma Thurman, then got together with model Christina Fulton (they share a son, Weston, born in 1990), and he’s got another kid with his ex-wife Alice Kim Cage. Never a dull moment with this guy.
