Paul Gertz
Paul Gertz is basically that guy in the room who’s done it all—business, law, and a whole lotta storytelling. He kicked things off at UCLA with an Econ degree, then flexed hard by bagging both a J.D. and an MBA from USC. Not one to sit still, Paul dove into the world of animation at Ruby-Spears Productions, sorting out business affairs before George Lucas himself tapped him for Lucasfilm at Skywalker Ranch. (Yeah, that Skywalker Ranch. No big deal.) After that wild ride, Paul swung back to LA to become Senior VP of Production at Hanna-Barbera—home of the OG Saturday morning cartoons.
But he didn’t just want to crunch numbers and ink deals forever. So, he flipped to the creative side, running the show for Gene Roddenberry’s Earth: Final Conflict. Five seasons, 110 episodes—dude basically lived and breathed sci-fi for years. Vancouver called his name next, where he took on the role of Executive VP at Rainmaker Animation, another seriously respected studio on the international scene.
Eventually, Paul teamed up with Network Entertainment and, honestly, it’s been nothing but premium, award-winning unscripted TV and theatrical hits ever since. For more than a decade, he’s produced or executive produced everything they’ve rolled out. Basically, if you see the Network name on a doc or a series, Paul’s fingerprints are probably all over it. This guy is the definition of a behind-the-scenes powerhouse—law, business, storytelling—he ties it all together.
