Philippe Logie
Philippe Logie’s been deep in the Belgian film and TV game since way back in 2001, running the show when it comes to program acquisitions at Be TV (you might remember it as Canal+ Belgium, back in the day). Before that, he wore a couple different hats—General Secretary, in-house counsel—the classic jack-of-all-trades situation, only with more legal jargon and probably way too many late nights reading contracts. Thanks to his background as an IP lawyer, Philippe’s got this almost ninja-like skill for wrangling VOD and pay TV rights from both Hollywood heavyweights and the local indie crowd, which isn’t exactly a walk in the park.
Then in 2010, he joined the board of The André Delvaux Academy—big deal for anyone who’s into keeping Belgian cinema alive and kicking. Not just content to sit behind the curtain, he also stepped up as artistic producer for the Magritte Du Cinéma, the French-speaking Belgian film awards. Seven years of that gig? You know he’s got stories.
But the guy’s not just about licensing and red carpets. In 2014, he took a hard left into production, jumping in as an associate producer for feature films backed by VOO (the top dog in Wallonia’s cable world) and Be TV. Basically, if you’ve watched anything halfway decent on Belgian pay TV in the last decade or so, chances are Philippe’s fingerprints are somewhere on it. The man’s a fixture—always somewhere in the mix, making sure good stories find a way to the screen.
