Pokey LaFarge
Pokey LaFarge is one of those guys who seems to have lived a hundred lives in the span of a decade. Born and raised in Illinois, he’s got his fingers in a bunch of pies—singer, songwriter, guitarist, poet, actor. The man cannot sit still. Since 2006, he’s been crisscrossing the globe, playing everything from tiny bars to big festivals, and building up a fanbase that’s weirdly loyal on both sides of the Atlantic. Eight albums deep, his most recent project, “Rock Bottom Rhapsody” (dropped in 2020), shows he’s not slowing down anytime soon.
But music’s just the tip of the iceberg for Pokey. He’s popped up on the big screen too. Back in 2013, he made his film debut as a saloon singer in Gore Verbinski’s “The Lone Ranger”—now that’s a flex. Fast forward a few years, and he’s playing Hank Snow in the CMT series “Sun Records” (2017), basically living out every vintage country fan’s dream. And if that wasn’t enough, he’s rubbing elbows with Hollywood’s heavyweights. In 2020, he scored a role in “The Devil All The Time,” a Netflix original with Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Bill Skarsgård, and Jake Gyllenhaal producing. Not exactly a small gig. Pokey LaFarge: the man’s everywhere, doing everything, and still finding time to carve out a sound and style all his own.
