Sangeeth Sivan

Sangeeth Sivan, born way back in '58 in Thiruvananthapuram—yeah, that’s the capital of Kerala—wasn’t just some regular filmmaker. The dude basically made his mark, especially if you’re into Malayalam cinema from the ‘90s. Folks still can’t stop talking about “Yoddha” (that’s the 1992 cult classic, by the way), and honestly, it’s hard to blame them. The movie’s got this wild mix of action, mysticism, and some truly hilarious moments. Sivan just knew how to blend all that and still keep you hooked. Then there’s “Nirnnayam” from ’95. If you haven’t watched it, you’re missing out. It’s this tense thriller that keeps you guessing, and Sangeeth’s direction? Totally nails that edge-of-your-seat vibe. And don’t even get me started on “Vyooham” (1990)—early ‘90s Malayalam cinema had a different flavor and Sivan brought something fresh to the table, not afraid to experiment with genres or mess around with storytelling. He was married to Jayashree, and from what people say, they seemed pretty tight. Sadly, the film industry lost him in May 2024, in Mumbai. That one hit hard for a lot of people who grew up on his movies. But, you know, the thing about Sangeeth Sivan is—his films are still hanging around, still being watched, still making people laugh or sit on the edge of their seat. Not every director gets to say that.
