Senna Hegde
Senna Hegde, man, what a journey. You probably know his name if you’re into Malayalam or Kannada films—dude’s been making waves, honestly. Born and raised in this sleepy little town called Kanhangad up in northern Kerala, he didn’t exactly have the “movie brat” upbringing or anything. Instead, he went and got himself a Masters in Information Systems from Queensland University of Technology in Australia—yeah, not your typical film school route. Then, outta nowhere, the guy hops over to the US, crunches numbers as a Business Analyst. And just when you think he’s found his lane, he switches it up again, landing in the Middle East as a Creative Director in advertising. Wild, right?
But here’s where it gets spicy: in 2016, he drops this film called 0-41*. People weren’t just watching—they were raving. Critics, film nerds, everyone. That’s what really put Senna on the map. Before that, he worked behind the scenes, lending his brain as a Script Consultant for Ulidavaru Kandanthe—another one of those films that had the critics in a chokehold. Then came Katheyondu Shuruvagide, his first Kannada feature. Diganth starred, the film hit all the right notes, and suddenly, Senna was officially a name to watch in both Malayalam and Kannada circles. The guy’s got this knack for hopping between worlds—tech, advertising, cinema—and somehow making it all work. Not your average director, that’s for sure.
