Shantanu Anam
Shantanu figured out pretty quick that if you wanna actually survive in the creative world, you better slap a few hyphens on your job title. So yeah, he’s an actor-writer-director, and not just because it sounds cool on Instagram. The guy’s got real chops—about 25 stage productions under his belt, juggling acting and writing for most of them. After theater, it made total sense for him to wander off into the wild west of web series. He didn’t just act in “Baked,” he helped write it and was associate director too. Not to brag (okay, maybe a little), but “Baked” pretty much blew up, one of the first web shows in India to go properly viral.
Then, because apparently he doesn’t know how to chill, Shantanu took off to Los Angeles for a year to study Method acting at Lee Strasberg. Like, actual LA. Once he’d soaked up enough of that, he went and did a two-year masters in screenwriting at Syracuse. That’s a lot of snow and a lot of scripts. Now that he’s back in India, he’s the head writer for Hotstar’s biggie this year—“The Plot,” dropping in October, and also working on another show with Arre Studios called “Chaos,” which he’s directing too. No big deal, right?
Oh, and he’s been a writer for All India Bakchod, plus he’s written and directed sketches for platforms like LBB and Arre. To top it all off, he runs his own improv company—“Medium Sized Improv.” So if you catch a random improv gig in town, odds are he’s up there, making it all up as he goes.
