Shine Tom Chacko, man, talk about a wild ride through Malayalam cinema. The dude kicked off his journey grinding behind the scenes as an assistant director for nearly a decade, mostly under Kamal. After wrapping up his B.Com from St. Thomas College in Thrissur, he finally landed a spot in front of the camera—first with a blink-and-you-miss-it appearance in Nammal (2002), but his real debut came way later with Khaddama (2011). He slogged through a bunch of smaller roles in films like Ee Adutha Kaalath and Annayum Rasoolum before finally scoring his big break with Ithihasa in 2014. That movie was a monster hit—highest-grossing Malayalam film that year, if you can believe it. Suddenly, Shine wasn’t just another face in the crowd. In 2016, he flipped the script and played a total baddie in Kammatti Paadam, and then nailed the character Suku in Ann Mariya Kalippilanu, both in the same year. After that, he was everywhere—Godha, Tiyaan, Varnyathil Aashanka, Parava, you name it. The guy just kept hustling. By 2018, he was leading roles, even headlining WHO, Malayalam’s first time-travel flick. 2019 was another big one—Shine’s villainous turn in Ishq scored him the SIIMA award for Best Actor in a Negative Role and got critics buzzing. He kept the momentum rolling with Unda and then dived into more cop roles with Operation Java and Wolf in 2021.
