Steph Copeland
Steph Copeland’s got her fingerprints all over the soundscape of modern film and TV, especially if you dig a good thriller or something that makes your pulse jump. Toronto’s home base, but her music’s everywhere. She scooped up three Canadian Screen Music Awards across 2022 and 2023—yeah, best narrative feature film score for The Retreat and Outpost, and she snagged best TV special score for Lethal Love. Not slowing down, she landed two Canadian Screen Award noms in 2024 for her killer work on Cascade, both for Original Song and Original Score. Then in summer 2023, she went international, laying down her score for ‘Reveillon’ in Bratislava with the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra and Anton Popovic at the helm—a political family drama set around the 1993 Czechoslovakia split.
But hey, she didn’t just pop out of nowhere. Steph kicked things off as a singer-songwriter and electro-pop artist, hustling in Windsor and Detroit, touring and collaborating on both sides of the border. Her tracks have ended up everywhere—Tiny Pretty Things, Snowpiercer, L.A.'s Finest, even animated hits like Mysticons and The Unicorn Academy. She’s worked on campaigns for brands like NBA Canada, The North Face, and the Pan-Am Games. Sometimes she jumps in as a music director, too, whipping up performances for events like the SOCAN Awards and TIFF Gala. Oh, and she’s a classically trained vocalist with roots at The Royal Conservatory of Music. Basically, she’s everywhere, and her sound just keeps showing up in places you least expect.
