Stephen Phillips
Stephen Phillips, an Aussie through and through, is one of those actors you’ve probably seen in a ton of places but maybe didn’t even realize it was the same guy. He’s worked both on stage and screen, and honestly, the man’s got range. Not just in acting—he’s also a legit audiobook narrator and does voiceover work, so if you’ve ever listened to a story and thought, “Dang, this guy’s voice is smooth,” there’s a chance it was Stephen.
He came out of the Victorian College of the Arts back in 2002, which, if you know anything about Aussie theater, is kind of a big deal. The year after graduating, he hit the ground running—his debut with the Melbourne Theatre Company in their production of Metamorphoses was, well, the kind of thing people remember. He’s got a knack for really getting into a character, like, you can tell he’s done his homework but also brings a bit of himself to every role.
Outside of acting, he’s also a bit of a music guy. Plays the guitar, drums, piano, and bass guitar—so basically, he could start his own band if he ever got tired of the whole acting gig. There’s just something about performers who can do it all, right? Stephen’s got that creative energy that doesn’t seem to quit. Whether he’s on stage, in front of a camera, or behind a mic, you get the sense the guy just loves telling stories, in whatever form they come.
