Steven Hartley
Steven Hartley—yeah, that guy—if you’ve watched any decent British TV over the last few decades, you’ve probably run into him at least once. Born in Shipley, Bradford (proper Yorkshire lad), he’s been knocking around the industry since the early ‘80s and honestly, his face pops up everywhere. Not just a TV regular either—Steven’s turned up in film and on stage too, both in the UK and across the pond. He trained at LAMDA, so he’s got the chops, and after finishing up there back in ‘84, the man just never stopped working. From gritty dramas to the sort of roles where you go, “Wait, I know that voice,” he’s managed to leave a mark without ever coming off as a cliché. He’s played the hero, the villain, the bloke next door, and every shade in between—basically, he’s that solid, reliable presence directors love. What’s wild is he’s as comfortable on radio as he is in front of the camera, so you’ll catch his voice in all sorts of stuff, too. These days, he’s settled in London with his wife, Abby Francis, and their daughter Tess—seems like he keeps his family life pretty chilled compared to his busy career. All things considered, Steven’s career is one of those you look at and just think, “Steady, versatile, and still running strong.” There aren’t many who can say they’ve juggled that many roles and made it look this easy.
