Subbaraju
Subbaraju, born February 27, 1977, in Bhimavaram, Andhra Pradesh, is one of those dudes who just sort of slipped into the Telugu film industry and started popping up everywhere. Seriously, you can’t miss him—he’s got this tall, imposing presence, and somehow manages to nail both the good guy and the villain roles without skipping a beat. People mostly recognize him from “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion,” where he played Kumara Varma. That movie? A total blockbuster, and his character added that perfect dash of comic timing and awkward bravery.
But Subbaraju’s been around way before the Baahubali craze. Go back a bit, and you’ll find him in “Pokkiri” (or “Pokiri”—the spelling’s weird, but whatever), which dropped in 2006. That film was like a game-changer for Telugu cinema, with all the high-octane action, punchy dialogues, and Subbaraju doing what he does best—being this unpredictable force on screen. He played the antagonist, and man, he was convincing.
He doesn’t just stick to one language either. You’ll spot him in Tamil, Kannada, even Hindi flicks sometimes. What’s wild is he actually studied computer science before all this movie stuff, but destiny clearly had other plans. Over the years, Subbaraju carved out this niche for himself, bouncing between supporting roles, villains, and even the occasional hero’s buddy. Whether he’s getting punched or doing the punching, you remember his face. Just one of those actors who makes even a small role pop.
