Sunny Deol
Ajay Singh Deol, but everyone calls him Sunny Deol, landed in this world as the son of Dharmendra and Prakash Kaur. The guy kicked off his acting gig with Betaab in '83—basically a blockbuster love story, and yeah, he starred opposite another newbie, Amrita Singh. Betaab was a smash hit, and after that? Sunny just started stacking up those action hero roles like trophies. Arjun, Tridev, and Ghayal—man, those movies really set him up as Bollywood’s go-to tough guy. Ghayal especially blew up, got him his first major award. Then came Damini, where he played a drunk lawyer (honestly, he nailed it), and obviously, Ghatak, Ziddi, Border, the works. The list goes on.
He even tried his hand at directing with Dillagi in ’99, acting alongside his younger bro Bobby Deol. Didn’t exactly set the box office on fire, but hey, points for effort. And then there’s Darr—can’t skip that one—where he went toe-to-toe with Shah Rukh Khan. People still remember him for that intense, not-just-an-action-hero vibe. Jump to the 2000s, Sunny kept rolling out hits: Gadar, where he straight-up owned the role, Apne, and Yamla Pagla Deewana with his fam—Bobby and Dharmendra back together. Heroes (2008) stood out too, had a nice message about not giving up. The dude’s got a legacy, honestly. Here’s hoping he keeps surprising us.
