Susan Lynch
Susan kicked off her acting career on the Gaelic stage—yeah, not exactly the standard route, but it clearly worked for her. Central School of Speech and Drama spotted her talent, offered her a spot, and she snagged the Kenneth Branagh Renaissance Award for Most Promising Student while she was there. Not bad, right? She didn’t just sit around, either. She landed some pretty big theatre gigs: El Cid and Pericles at the National, the title role in Miss Julie at the Young Vic, and got gritty in Ashes and Sand at the Royal Court.
TV came knocking soon after. She popped up in Cracker for her debut, and then rolled into parts in Ivanhoe, A Royal Scandal, and Truth or Dare. Somewhere around ‘97, she wrapped up The Secret of Roan Inish—a heartfelt little film shot in Donegal. Oh, and if you blinked, you might’ve missed her in Interview With the Vampire, but hey, it still counts. After that, she dove into Downtime, doing her own stunts, which is honestly kind of wild.
Her career didn’t slow down—she jetted off to Australia for Kings in Grass Castles, a miniseries for the BBIC (not a typo, it’s actually called that). Susan clearly wasn’t afraid to mix things up, jumping from theatre to TV to film, and even hopping continents for a good story. She’s got that vibe—restless, always chasing the next challenge, and not just sticking to the safe stuff.
