Sylvain Goldberg
Sylvain Goldberg’s filmography? Oh, it’s actually kinda wild when you dig in. He’s the guy behind that dystopian brain-bender What Happened to Monday (2017)—you know, the one where Noomi Rapace basically clones herself seven times over? That movie doesn’t pull punches. Set in a future where families can only have one kid (thanks, overpopulation nightmare), seven identical sisters have to sneak around, swapping identities every day of the week just to survive. It’s tense, dark, and full of “oh crap” moments. You blink, you miss something.
Then there’s Fleur de tonnerre (2016). Not your average French drama, for sure. This one dives into the story of Hélène Jégado, a real-life serial poisoner from 19th-century France. Creepy, gothic atmosphere, lots of candlelight and tension, and a main character who’s as haunting as she is fascinating. It’s the kind of movie that makes you wanna Google “famous French crimes” at 2 AM… not that I’d recommend it if you’re easily spooked.
And, yeah, À bout portant (2010)—that’s a straight-up adrenaline shot. A nurse gets swept into a kidnapping plot, there’s running, punching, double-crossing, the works. It’s edge-of-your-seat stuff, very French but with that universal action-movie kick. Goldberg’s touch is all over these films: gritty, stylish, and definitely not afraid to mess with your head a little. If you’re into flicks that keep you guessing (and maybe biting your nails), his projects? Pretty much a safe bet.
