Yukiyo Fujii
Yukiyo Fujii’s filmography is kinda wild, honestly. She’s popped up in some seriously iconic stuff, and if you’re into anime at all, you’ve almost definitely heard her voice somewhere, even if you didn’t realize it at the time. First up, she’s in “Kimi no Suizō o Tabetai” (that’s “I Want to Eat Your Pancreas” for the subtitle crowd), which—despite the aggressively weird title—is a gut-punch of a drama about life, loss, and making connections before it’s too late. Not your average tearjerker, but it’ll get you right in the feels.
Then there’s “Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods,” or as the purists call it, “Doragon Bōru Zetto Kami to Kami.” It’s a big, ridiculous, explosive movie with gods fighting each other and Goku doing what Goku does best—yelling, fighting, saving the world. Yukiyo’s not center stage, but c’mon, being part of the Dragon Ball universe is like getting your name on the anime Hollywood Walk of Fame.
And last but not least, “Meitantei Conan,” which is basically the Sherlock Holmes of anime. It’s been running since 1996, and it’s still going because, apparently, people really, really love seeing a tiny detective solve murder mysteries. Yukiyo’s roles in these projects might slide under the radar, but she’s one of those voices that holds the whole thing together, you know? She brings heart, humor, and sometimes just the right amount of drama. Not everyone gets to be the star, but she’s definitely one of those people who makes the whole show run smoother.
