Storyline
Karin’s just eleven and her life’s already flipped upside down. Her dad basically dumps her at her grandfather’s place—this old monk who lives in a tiny coastal town in the middle of leafy, rural Japan. Not exactly Tokyo, right? The whole place smells like trees and sea air, and honestly, it’s got that vibe where you expect a tanuki to waddle out of the bushes at any second. Her grandpa? He’s not exactly the warm-and-fuzzy type, but he’s got some wild tricks up his sleeve. Case in point: he ropes in Anzu, who’s supposed to be some helpful spirit but is actually a ghost cat with a serious attitude. Anzu’s got opinions for days and a habit of doing his own thing, which, let’s be real, clashes hard with Karin’s stubborn streak. At first, they’re like oil and water—bickering, side-eyeing, you name it. But as time goes on, this weird little family starts to figure each other out, navigating old wounds and new beginnings in a town where the supernatural feels right at home.
