September 11 – Michael Harris II hit two home runs and Orlando Arcia and Sean Murphy also hit deep on Tuesday night as the visiting Atlanta Braves beat the Washington Nationals 12–0.
Harris, Matt Olson and Ramon Laureano each had three hits for the Braves, who trailed the New York Mets by one game in the National League wild-card round.
Atlanta starter Reynaldo Lopez left the game after one inning because of a sore right shoulder. Jesse Chavez (2-2) entered in the second inning and pitched three scoreless innings on one hit to earn the win. John Brebbia pitched three scoreless innings while four Braves pitchers combined to allow three hits.
José Tena had two doubles for the Nationals.
Washington starter MacKenzie Gore (8-12) allowed seven runs on seven hits but walked only two in 3 2/3 innings.
Atlanta was held to two hits by the Cincinnati Reds on Monday night and 15 on Tuesday.
The Warriors scored four points in the third quarter. Luke Williams committed an error, stole second and moved to third on a grounder. Jorge Soler hit a ground-rule double to score Williams, then moved to third on a wild pitch. After Marcell Ozuna walked, Olson doubled, Soler scored, Laureano doubled, and Ozuna and Olson singled to make it 4–0.
In the fourth inning, Harris hit a double to right wing, increasing the lead to 5-0. Soler drew a walk and Ozuna reached for interference from catcher Keibert Ruiz. Soler scored on Olson’s single and Ozuna scored on Laureano’s single.
Arcia hit a home run in the fifth inning to make the score 8–0.
In the sixth inning, Laureano hit into a fielder’s choice and Murphy homered to left, making the score 10–0.
In the eighth inning, Adam Duvall walked, Olson and Laureano singled to load the bases, Duvall scored on Murphy’s single, and Atlanta went 7-for-13 with runners in scoring position.
Harris hit another home run in the ninth inning and they eventually went ahead 12-0.
