Storyline
Edmond Dantes has it all lined up—good job, loyal pals, and the love of his life, about to marry her. Then, boom, his world flips upside down. Thanks to a bunch of jealous so-called friends, he’s framed for a crime he didn’t even think about committing. Next thing he knows, he’s rotting away in Château d'If, this gnarly island prison, for over a decade. Fourteen years go by—yeah, fourteen—and the dude somehow claws his way to freedom with help from a fellow prisoner who basically becomes his mentor. Once he gets out, Edmond’s not just free, he’s loaded, thanks to secret treasure info he picked up in jail. He reinvents himself as the mysterious Count of Monte Cristo, rolling in cash and dripping with vengeance. He’s got one thing on his mind: payback. So he starts weaving a complex web, hunting down the guys who destroyed his life, serving up revenge with style. But all that plotting messes with his head, making him question if revenge is really worth it in the end.
