Storyline
Lou-Jean Poplin’s desperate—her baby’s been taken from her, and she’ll do absolutely anything to get him back. So, she breaks her husband, Clovis, out of a low-security prison. Yeah, not exactly a textbook family reunion, but you work with what you’ve got. The escape plan goes sideways fast, and they end up kidnapping this rookie Texas trooper, Maxwell Slide. With Slide riding shotgun (literally), the trio tears across Texas in a stolen patrol car, chased by what feels like every cop in the state. nnPretty soon, the media and public start treating Lou-Jean and Clovis like some kind of legendary outlaws—think Bonnie and Clyde with worse luck. Of course, it’s not all fan mail and roadside snacks; vigilantes pop up, hoping to make a name for themselves by stopping the couple. Through all the chaos, the only person who even tries to understand them is Captain Tanner, a seasoned trooper who’s just hoping this whole mess can end without a bloodbath. It’s a wild, messy, kind of heartbreaking ride.
