A cult classic where Indian traditions clash head-on with Western ideals, all set right after independence. Expect drama, identity crises, and a dash of rebellion in every scene.

Storyline

Radha’s stuck in the middle of nowhere in India, 1960s. She’s a widow, barely scraping by, raising her two boys, Bharat and Puran. She wants the best for both, but life’s a jerk—she can’t afford to send them both to school. So Bharat, the classic selfless brother, ditches his own dreams and busts his back so Puran can hit the books and make it big. And yeah, Puran does just that—crushes his studies, even heads overseas, becoming the family’s golden ticket. When he finally comes home, everyone’s pumped, thinking the hard days are over. But, plot twist: Puran’s now calling himself Kumar, and he’s turned into this greedy, cold-hearted guy, more interested in grabbing the family land than keeping anyone together. That old song by Manna Dey just hits different here—promises, love, loyalty, it’s all just talk, right? Trust? Family? In the end, everyone’s out for themselves. It’s messy, it’s real, and honestly, kinda heartbreaking.
