Sept. 18 – Wyatt Langford homered, doubled and scored three times in the opener of a three-game series on Tuesday night in Arlington, Texas. The Texas Rangers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 13-8.

Leody Taveras had a two-run homer and two singles and Adolis Garcia had two hits and three RBIs as the Rangers (72-79) lost three in a row.

Texas starter Nathan Eovaldi allowed seven runs on 11 hits in 4 2/3 innings, striking out four and walking two.

Blue Jays starter Chris Bassitt allowed seven runs (one earned) and six hits in 3 2/3 innings. He struck out two and walked three.

Davis Schneider homered, singled and scored twice, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had three hits and drove in two runs for the Blue Jays (72-79), who won their third in a row.

The Blue Jays scored two runs in Game 1 on Alejandro Kirk’s RBI double and Ernie Clement’s run-scoring single, and another run in Game 2 on Gray Rowe’s RBI double, making the score 3–0.

Bassett retired the first two batters in the third inning, but Josh Smith singled, stole second, and Langford doubled to make the score 3–1.

Garcia followed a swinging bunt by Buster, and then the right-hander lofted the ball to first, which continued down the right field line and scored Langford to tie the game 3–2.

With runners on first and second and fourth out, Justin Foscue hit a chopper for a runner on third, but Clement’s pitch for the second runner went into the dirt and was hit out, scoring the tying run.

After Smith’s sacrifice fly gave Texas a 4–3 lead, the Rangers rallied and Garcia hit a run and scored two more to take a 6–3 lead.

Nathaniel Lowe followed with an RBI single to center.

In the fifth inning, Toronto loaded the bases with no outs and scored on a double play grounder, Nathan Lueks’s single, and Schneider’s home run, tying the Game 7.

Jonah Heim hit a two-run single off Tommy Nance (0-2) in the sixth to give the Rangers a 9-7 lead.

Langford hit a solo home run in the seventh inning, making the score 10–7.

Reliever Matt Festa (5-1) got the win for the Rangers after pitching 1 1/3 scoreless innings.

The Blue Jays scored once in the top of the eighth inning, but Texas answered with three runs in the home half, including a two-run shot by Taveras.
