September 18 – Griffin Canning allowed three hits in six innings and Eric Waugman went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI, leading the Los Angeles Angels to a 5–0 win over the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night in Anaheim, with the win snapping a six-game losing streak.

Canning (6-13), who gave up a season-high 10 runs (9 ERA) in 5 2/3 innings in his last start at Minnesota, gave up two walks and struck out three on Tuesday. Brock Burke, Hunter Strickland and Ryan Miller each pitched an inning, giving the Angels their 19th loss of the season to the White Sox.

Taylor Ward had three hits and an RBI. Gustavo Campello also had two hits and a run scored for Los Angeles (61-90), which finished with 10 hits.

Dominique Fletcher and Nicky Lopez had two hits each for Chicago (36-116), which is four games shy of the modern major league single-season losing record (40-120) set in 1962. The loss came by just four games.

Davis Martin (0-5) gave the White Sox the loss, whose three-game winning streak was snapped. Martin allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks and four walks in five innings.

Los Angeles took a 1–0 lead in the third inning when Charles LeBlanc walked, moved to second on Campero’s single, and scored on Ward’s single.

The Angels increased the lead to 2–0 in the fourth on a single off of Nico Cavadas off of Nolan Schanuel and then scored on Wagman’s single.

Los Angeles took a 3–0 lead in the fifth inning when Campello hit a single, stole second and scored on a two-out double by Sanuel.

Waagman homered for the second straight game – in the sixth inning, reliever Enyel De Los Santos hit a 434-foot homer to left-center to make the score 4–0.

In the seventh inning, Ward hit an infield single, stole second, moved to third on a grounder, and scored on a pitch by Jake Eder who had recently made his major league debut to increase the lead to 5–0.
