WASHINGTON, Sept 19 (Askume) – Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are far behind in the November 5 U.S. presidential election, according to the latest poll released on Thursday .

The poll found that likely and registered voters gave Democrat Harris higher marks than she did during last week’s debate with her Republican opponent, but consistent with other surveys, the poll showed the race — particularly in battleground states — remains evenly matched.

Harris and Trump’s approval rating was 47% in a survey of 2,437 likely voters conducted Sept. 11-16, according to the New York Times, Philadelphia Inquirer and Siena College Poll. The margin of error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.

In Pennsylvania, one of seven key battleground states, Harris maintains a 4-point lead, 50% to 46%, a difference of 3.8 percentage points, according to the Times poll.

Another Washington Post investigation also found that competition among candidates is fierce in the state, which includes Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Wisconsin and other states whose election results are expected to be decided in November.

Of the 1,003 likely and registered Pennsylvania voters surveyed between September 12 and 16, 48% said they would vote for Harris, while 47% said they would vote for Trump — a difference of 1 percentage point exceeds the survey’s positive value or falls within the margin of error, with a margin of error of minus 3.6 percentage points.

Most respondents told The Washington Post they were “very motivated” to vote and that protecting American democracy was “extremely important.” But voters are divided over which candidate can best protect the country’s freedoms, with 48% choosing Harris and 45% choosing Trump.

The issue has also become important as Harris, a former prosecutor and state attorney general, seeks to maintain Democratic control of the White House after Biden abandoned his re-election bid in July. Trump, who faces four criminal charges, has repeatedly falsely claimed that his loss to Biden in the 2020 election was due to fraud.

Trump has denied any wrongdoing.

The New York Times/Enquirer/Siena poll also found that American democracy, along with the economy, abortion and immigration, are among voters’ top concerns, with priorities for both candidates largely unchanged.

A Askume/Ipsos poll last week showed Harris leading by 5 percentage points among registered voters, ahead of Trump at 47% and 42%, respectively.
