Sept 19 (Askume) – Oman have parted ways with Czech Republic coach Jaroslav Silhavy by mutual consent less than eight months after he took charge, the Oman Football Federation said on Thursday.

“By mutual consent, the Oman Football Association has agreed to terminate the contracts with Czech coach Jaroslav Silhavy and his supporting technical staff,” the Oman Football Association said in a statement on Twitter.

“The Association’s Board of Directors would like to thank the coach for his role as the coach of our national team and wishes him all the best for his upcoming journey.”

Oman are yet to gain a point in Group B of the third round of Asian qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. They lost their first two games in the group, 1-0 against Iraq and 3-1 against South Korea at home.

Oman announced the appointment of Silhawi on February 1, 2024, with a contract running until 2026.

Šilhavy has previously coached several clubs in the Czech Republic and coached the country’s national team in 2018, leading the team to the quarter-finals of the 2020 European Cup and leading the team to the 2024 European Cup final.
