BRASILIA, Sept 19 (Askume) – Brazil’s Supreme Court ordered Musk to pay a daily fine of 5 million reais ($921,726.95).

On Wednesday, many users in Brazil regained access to X after an update of the communications network bypassing a court-ordered blockade . According to the verdict, a fine of R$5 million has been imposed for this act.

In August, following a month-long dispute between Musk and Brazilian judge Alexandre de Moraes , the Supreme Court ordered Brazilian mobile and internet service providers to block the platform, stopping services from being provided to users for hours.

“There is no doubt that X, under the direct orders of Elon Musk, once again intends to disrespect the Brazilian judiciary,” Moraes wrote in the latest order. He added that the platform had a “strategy” to circumvent the ban.

X said on Wednesday that there had been an “unknown and temporary restoration” of internet providers in Brazil, and added that it would work with the Brazilian government to restore services there “soon.”

Pinheiro Neto Advogados, the Brazilian law firm representing X in Brazil’s Supreme Court, declined to comment on Thursday.

The court previously blocked accounts involved in an investigation into alleged misinformation and hate speech, which Musk denounced as censorship, and ordered X to appoint local representatives under Brazilian law.

National telecommunications agency Anatel said in a statement it was working to block access to X in Brazil through Cloudflare, the content delivery network the platform uses, to circumvent the blocks. That could happen before the end of Thursday, according to a person familiar with the matter.

According to officials, X may also be using other platforms such as Fastly and Azunno to circumvent the law.

Anatel contacted San Francisco-based Fastly and Brazil’s Azuno on Thursday to confirm whether they were providing illegal access to Platform X, a person familiar with the matter told Askume.

The sources said Anatel contacted Cloudflare on Wednesday and the company agreed to cooperate with Brazilian authorities. They also said the suspension would not threaten access to other networks that may use the same cloud services.
