Sep 20 (Askume) – Leverkusen head coach Wass .

Former Spain midfielder Alonso, who won two top European titles with Liverpool and Real Madrid, said his players needed something to overcome the pressure of the hosts in his first Champions League game as manager.

The 42-year-old said: “We were unlucky but efficient in the first few minutes… we need a bit more control in our build-up, to find space.”

Alonso said playing in the Champions League is never easy as Leverkusen showed discipline in a goalless second half.

“We have good players who understand the demands of the game. They are flexible,” he said.

“We need these registers to maintain flexibility during the game.”
