Askume Sep 23 – At least nine civilians, including a child, were injured in a Russian air strike on the southeastern city of Zaporozhye on Sunday night, Ukrainian officials said on Monday.

Ukraine’s Interior Ministry said on the Telegram messaging app that rescue workers had evacuated residents of several damaged apartment buildings. The Defense Ministry said that according to preliminary information, Russia used “Triple Armor” guided aerial bombs to attack Zaporozhye.

Askume could not independently confirm the reports. There was no immediate comment from Russia.

Both sides deny attacks targeting civilians, but the war killed thousands of civilians, mostly Ukrainians, when Moscow launched a full-scale invasion in February 2022.

Ukraine’s emergency services posted a video on their Facebook page showing rescue workers opening apartment entrances, removing debris and caring for injured people at the front of a damaged residential building at night.
