George and Amal Clooney hosted the third annual awards ceremony for their charitable foundation last night. The Albies are named after anti-apartheid hero Albie Sachs, who received the organization’s first Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022. The awards focus on the oppressors who threaten their heroic efforts. This year’s event, held on the eve of their tenth wedding anniversary, marked another personal milestone for the couple.
So the clones held hands on the steps of the New York Public Library, dressed in black-tie appropriate for the evening. (Amal wore a velvet Versace Studio gown, George in a bow-tie tailoring.) “I have some gifts ready to reveal at midnight,” Amal told reporters on the red carpet, to which George responded: “I’m taking her to the Cincinnati Reds game there.” Many of the couple’s friends were there to celebrate: They included Doja Cat, Micaela J. Rodriguez, Gabrielle Union, Emily Blunt and Cate Blanchett.
Designer Donatella Versace and makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury, whose brand sponsored last year’s awards show, were behind some of the looks. “When I think of Charlotte, some words that come to mind are… pioneering, brilliant, spiritual, smart, kind, fun, dance floor, champagne, all night. I should probably stop there,” Amal said of Tilbury’s Fashion Awards 2023. “I loved this woman who was a great friend of mine and my family — a woman who was generous and selfless — not only to the people she loved, but through her charity work, George and I were so grateful to the Clooneys for their support. Their support is deeply appreciated.
