Get invited to the Warrobe.NYC dinner and you’re guaranteed to have a great time. On Thursday, the brand’s founders Josh Goot and Christine Centenera celebrated their collaboration with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. The industry’s top fashion leaders took to the steps of the prestigious Caviar Caspia to celebrate Huntington-Whiteley’s own sophisticated and elegant collection.
Not surprisingly, given the brand’s distinctive color and the fact that it rained all day in Paris, almost everyone was dressed in black. The crowd looked like mourners at a fashionable funeral imagined by Helmut Newton: everyone was wearing fishnets, shoulder pads, leather and sunglasses. Derek Blasberg wore a rare-colored navy shirt, while Daniel Lee, who worked for Bottega Veneta and later Burberry Huntington, wore a deep forest green coat – Whiteley’s design became a viral sensation. The air soon filled with cigarette smoke and the smell of exotic perfumes. Models, designers, artists and stylists drank Belvedere martinis and exchanged gossip.
The partnership is a natural one. Goot and Centenera founded the brand in 2017 as the opposite of fast fashion: luxury essentials distilled into their most desirable forms. During her years as a model, actress and entrepreneur, British-born Huntington-Whiteley has garnered global attention for her personal style, which is both glamorous and trendy to match.
Actress Abbey Lee’s padded suit epitomizes 1980s glamour. Amina Muaddi’s eponymous shoe line features gleaming dark leather, a favorite of the world’s most photographed woman. Lena Perminova, Russian beauty and wife of billionaire Alexander Lebedev, twirled around in fishnets. Renowned photographer German Larkin shines his camera around the wood-paneled room. Even with so many beautiful people around, all eyes were on Huntington-Whiteley. Her glossy blonde hair framed her face, reminding her of early screen icons like Veronica Lake and Lana Turner.
“Launching the Wardrobe NYC x RHW Collection at Caviar Caspia is a natural fit,” said Huntington-Whiteley. “To be surrounded by so many friends, family, special collaborators and supporters is so special.”
