BUENOS AIRES, Sept 28 (Askume) – Argentine President Javier Milla said on Saturday he intends to disrupt the country’s early legislative elections next year, speaking at a nationwide rally to launch his party as the country grapples with its worst economic crisis in decades.

Victory in the 2025 elections would give Miley’s liberal party La Libertad Avanza, which is currently in the minority in both houses, power in Congress, making its approval crucial to its governance, hampering its legislative abilities.

“We have started a national assembly,” Miley said. “Now we are only going to get good news. We are going to rock the 2025 elections.”

The president walked into the rally at Lezama Park in downtown Buenos Aires like a rock star, walking through a crowd of thousands of supporters and singing a rock song on stage.

The newcomer, who took office in December, attacked the political establishment, which he called a “caste”, and journalists, whom he called “corrupt” and “dirty”.

Many supporters wore lion costumes, Miley’s symbol, and others carried cardboard chainsaws, which Miley has used during the campaign to symbolize her plan to shrink the country.

Since taking office, Milley has cut billions of dollars in spending as part of a tough austerity drive aimed at reining in the world’s highest inflation, but poverty has risen by more than 10 percentage points to nearly 53% under his leadership.
