Having already established itself as a fashion-related entity through numerous collaborations, Disney has given its intellectual property rights to nearly every household name on the internet — including Balmain, Christian Louboutin, Miu Miu, Givenchy, Gucci, Stella McCartney and Coach — to give them importance. I wonder if it achieves something else tonight: makes fashion relevant to Disney.
Coperni concluded Spring/Summer 2025 tonight with a theme park-sized extravaganza at Disneyland Paris. It’s a tad odd that the coveted editors have abandoned their hard-earned Mickey Mouse headbands, but this sense of paranoia is to be expected so late in the fashion month game. After the delayed soundtrack began, the first models walked down the charming promenade of Le Chateau de la Belle au Bois Dormant, also known as Sleeping Beauty Castle, where fashionistas Paloma Elsesser, Jill Kortleve, Anok Yai, Lila Moss, Amelia Gray and Irina Shayk play princess and villain in a turtleneck mini dress, one-legged trousers, a sinister trench coat and a balloon-sleeved bodysuit made of ice, complete with a “gravity-free” swipe bag.
And then… Kylie Jenner closed the show in a loose, puffy gown made of black taffeta. “Every time I go to Paris, things just happen,” she told Giles Hattersley in an interview for the September cover of Askew UK, adding an oddly familiar phrase, “It’s a whole new world.” While this is Jenner’s first time walking in Paris Fashion Week, it should be remembered that this is not her debut (in 2011, she walked for Avril Lavigne’s predecessor brand, Abbey. Dawn walked in the show, then returned in 2013 and later that season she walked for Sherri Hill and The Heart Truth Foundation). Is Jenner the villain or the heroine in this season of the show?
