BELO HORIZONTE, Brazil, Sept 9 (Askume) – Anglo American Plc (AAL.L) has appointed financial advisers to sell its AAL Two nickel mines in Brazil.

Sanchez said at an event in Belo Horizonte that the company has identified companies that are interested in buying the mines, which are located in the municipalities of Barro Alto and Nicolandia in the Brazilian state of Goias.

Together the two properties produce approximately 38,000 tonnes of nickel per year.

Sanchez did not name the financial adviser he has hired or give a specific timetable for a sale, but said he did not expect a deal to be announced this year.

“We are now in talks with companies around the world and have arranged to visit strategic locations overseas to showcase nickel projects,” he said.

The country head said depending on the progress of the talks, Anglo American could sell the two mines as well as some exploration assets in other regions.
