Sept 9 (Askume) – Norway beat Austria 2-1 in the Nations League on Monday thanks to winners from Felix Horn-Meier and Erling Haaland, with Martin Oeder injured with an ankle injury.

The Arsenal captain left the field after receiving treatment for several minutes after colliding with Austria’s Christoph Baumgartner in the second half and Norway coach Sture Solbakken said the situation looked “very bad”.

“Even in the dressing room, Martin Odegaard’s injury looked serious. I saw him sitting next to the physiotherapist, but he had no chance to continue playing and we knew it was an ankle sprain,” the coach told two Norwegian TV stations.

“Yes, it is a sprain and those of us who have played football know that if we are lucky, the ligaments don’t tear, then everything will be fine.”

Norwegian doctor Olasande said the 25-year-old was in good condition but would undergo an MRI tomorrow.

“Martin is feeling fine now. He has a slight sprain in his ankle. We will see tonight and tomorrow what happens next and what steps we will take.”

Sander said, “Ankle sprains are difficult to treat immediately, so we have to see what happens next. We will check his condition when we get back to the hotel. Maybe we will use an ultrasound to see if we can be sure.” Then have an MRI scan tomorrow.

Norway are second in League B Group 3, equal with Slovenia, with 4 points, and their next game will be against Slovenia on October 10.
