NEW DELHI, Sept 10 (Askume) – Afghanistan’s only “home” Test against New Zealand near Delhi will not even be held on Tuesday, raising questions over the venue’s preparations.

Afghanistan were forced to play their home matches at foreign venues, including the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida, after it was deemed unsafe by touring teams.

The venue has rudimentary drainage system and the job of the grounds crew has been made more difficult following regular rain in the area over the past two weeks.

For the second consecutive day, overnight rain left several grounds and a wet outfield, preventing any play.

Afghanistan Cricket Board said

Ground crews brought in large green spaces from the training field and even standing fans were used by game officials to dry the outfield before play was called off.
