Sept 9 (Askume) – Norfolk Southern Railway (NSC.N) Chief Executive Alan Shaw may remain on the job during an investigation into allegations of possible workplace misconduct, two people familiar with the matter told Askume on Monday, after he resigned from the railway company.

The company said Sunday that it was reviewing allegations that Shaw violated its ethics policy.

Norfolk Southern did not immediately respond to a Askume request for comment. Xiao could not immediately be reached for comment. The sources requested anonymity to discuss sensitive personnel matters.

Four months before this news, Shaw was promoted to the top job in May 2022, fending off pressure from hedge funds to step down in a fierce proxy war.

Norfolk Southern’s 13-member board now faces its third consecutive crisis, after getting involved in a boardroom battle earlier this year with Ancora Holdings, an activist investor that won three board seats and plans to build a train in East Palestine, Ohioред

The Wall Street Journal first reported that Shaw was expected to resign.
