WASHINGTON, Sept 10 (Askume) – The United States will impose sanctions on Iranian and Russian individuals and entities involved in Tehran’s supply of ballistic missiles to Moscow, the White House said on Tuesday.

White House national security spokesman John Kirby told reporters that the new sanctions on Iran Air would ban commercial flights from Iran to the United Kingdom and continental Europe.

Speaking to reporters in London, Kirby responded to comments by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who said Russia had received ballistic missiles from Iran and could use them in Ukraine within weeks.

“The missiles provided by Iran, which have a maximum range of about 75 miles, would allow Russia to use a larger arsenal to attack targets beyond the front lines, while allowing Iranian weapons to be used against targets at close range,” Kirby said.

Kirby said Iran is now able to use Russian technology, including for nuclear issues, which would also be dangerous for the Middle East.

He said the new sanctions would show Iran that it would pay an economic price and warned that the United States would take further steps if necessary.
