Sept. 10 – According to ESPN, the Cleveland Browns plan to audition several free agent tight ends on Tuesday, and David Njoku is expected to miss several games because of a sprained ankle.

32-year-old veteran Jordan Akins is the only other tight end on the Browns’ depth chart. He had three catches for 27 yards against the Cowboys, giving him a career total of 91 games (30 starts) with the Houston Texans (2018-22) and Browns, carrying 169 times for 1,914 yards and eight touchdowns.

Smith, 26, has 109 catches for 973 yards and 10 touchdowns in 49 games (21 starts) with the Minnesota Vikings (2019-20, 2022) and Cincinnati Bengals (2023). In 2019, he was drafted in the second round by Minnesota.

Sweeney, 29, was drafted by Buffalo in the seventh round in 2019. In 24 games (four starts) for the Bills (2019, 2021-22), he had 18 catches for 165 yards and a score.
