NEW YORK, Sept 10 (Askume) – While millions of Americans watch the debate between Republican Donald Trump and Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris on television screens on Tuesday , their campaigns are preparing for World War II on social media and the memes are going viral.

Social media plays a more important role in this year’s election cycle than in previous years. Both the Democratic and Republican parties have hired content creators or influencers to spread information about their party’s policies and candidates .

Ahead of the debate, the campaigns launched digital attacks, promising to fact-check each other.

Overall, Trump has more followers on Instagram and TikTok than Harris and her campaign. Her campaign has received more than 100 million “likes” on its videos on TikTok, while Trump has 44 million “likes.”

“Promised,” the Harris campaign’s official Kamala HQ account on the social media platform said.

Advisers say part of their debate plan is to provoke Trump into saying something that could go viral on social media.

The Trump campaign told reporters it also plans to fact-check Harris.

Earlier, the White House said Republicans were spreading dangerous falsehoods about Haitian immigrants on social media, with vice presidential candidate Vance and others posting social messages falsely accusing them of eating household pets.
