MOSCOW, Sept 11 (Askume) – The Kremlin said on Wednesday that attacks in Ukraine would have little impact on Russia’s oil infrastructure because Russian air defence forces and other defence measures were working well.

Ukraine has stepped up drone attacks on Russian oil refineries and depots since this year. Moscow described the attacks as “terrorist acts.” Ukraine said the attacks were retaliatory.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said steps were being taken to ensure that such attacks do not impact Russians’ energy supplies and the economy.

“The impact of these massive attacks will be minimal due to the effectiveness of protective measures and air defense systems,” Peskov said during a daily conference call with reporters.

In the latest attack earlier this month, a drone targeted a Moscow oil refinery vital to the Russian capital’s fuel supply .

“Measures are being taken to eliminate the negative impact of such phenomena on the country’s economy, starting with the entire process of energy supply to citizens. Therefore, there are no concerns in this regard,” Peskov said.

Russia extended its gasoline export ban until the end of the year to ensure a stable supply of fuel to the domestic market .
