Sept 12 (Askume) – All flights at Belgium’s Charleroi airport, home to budget carrier Ryanair (RYA.I) , were cancelled on Thursday as airport workers went on strike.

In the early hours of the morning, nearly 200 flights were cancelled at Brussels’ south airport after staff accidentally walked onto the runway.

Trade union CNE told Belgian newspaper De Tijd that it was an uncontrolled strike as the union was still organising action announced last week.

The union and the airport have been trying for months to reach an agreement to improve working conditions for employees.
