Sept 12 (Askume) – Three people were killed and nine others injured in shelling in a village in the Kharkiv region of northeastern Ukraine on Thursday, the regional prosecutor said.

One person died in hospital after the attack in the village of Borova, southeast of Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city and a frequent target of Russian attacks, a statement said.

The interior ministry earlier said emergency services were working as Moscow troops again shelled the site of the initial attack. Three rescue workers were among the injured.

Prosecutors also reported that five people were injured in a Russian air strike in the Kievsky district of Kharkiv.

Officials in the border region near Sumy said Russian troops carried out 57 bombing attacks on the border area throughout the day, including a glide bomb attack that killed one person near the town of Yampil.

The Sumy region lies opposite Russia’s southern Kursk region, where Ukrainian forces made incursions last month.
