SEATTLE, Sept 12 (Askume) – Boeing Co (BAN) said on Thursday it was ready to return to negotiations to reach a new agreement, after workers at its U.S. West Coast plants voted against it and said they would abandon a strike.

Members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) voted 96% in favor of a strike and 94.6% to reject the agreement.

“The message is clear, the tentative agreement we reached with IAM leadership is not acceptable to members,” Boeing said in a statement. “We are seeking a new agreement.”
