JERUSALEM, Sept 13 (Askume) – The Israeli military said on Friday it had carried out operations against targets in Syria this week, just days after Syrian state media reported Israeli air strikes had killed 16 people and wounded dozens in western Syria.

“In southern Syria, the Israel Defense Forces targeted several militants who are carrying out terrorist activities against Israel,” the army said in a statement on Friday, without giving further details.

The Israeli military rarely comments on allegations about its actions in Syria and declined to comment on a New York Times report that Israeli special forces attacked a weapons manufacturing site near the Syrian-Lebanese border on Sunday.

On Sunday, Syria’s state news agency SANA reported that Israel had attacked “several military locations in the central region”, but did not elaborate on the specific content of the attacks.
