Sept 13 (Askume) – United Airlines (UAL.O) said on Friday it had signed a new deal with Elon Musk’s Starlink for in-flight internet services.

SpaceX’s Starlink has signed agreements with several airlines to provide in-flight internet service, aiming to expand its service beyond consumers and homes in rural areas around the world with little or no internet access.

The satellite Internet service provider has previously signed deals with Hawaiian Airlines (HA.O) and regional airline JSX.

United expects to offer Starlink connectivity on all of its more than 1,000 planes over the next few years.

Testing of the service will begin in early 2025, with the first passenger flights expected to begin later that year.

The airline also revealed plans to offer free Starlink service on its flights.
