September 14 – Alejandro Kirk hit an RBI single in the 11th inning and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the visiting St. Louis Reds 4–3 on Friday night.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was intentionally walked by Ryan Fernandez (1-5) in the top of the inning, then Leo Jimenez loaded the bases on a single. After automatic runner Nathan Lueks advanced to second on Will Wagner’s grounder to home, Kirk drove to deep left field, having the first walk-off hit of his career.

Erik Swanson (2-2) got the win after pitching a home run in the top of the 11th inning for Toronto (70-78).

Thomas Saggese hit his first major league home run, a solo shot, and two RBI for the Cardinals (74-73).

Toronto right-hander Kevin Gausman allowed two runs, nine hits and two bases while striking out three in seven innings of work.

Cardinals right-hander Eric Feder went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs, 6 hits, 1 base hit, and 3 strikeouts.

St. Louis started the game with four hits to take a 2-0 lead. Masin Winn singled to right and Alec Burleson singled to left. Paul Goldschmidt broke the bat on a single to load the bases. Nolan Arenado hit an infield single to center. Arenado’s pitch forced in a second run when right fielder Addison Barger headed the ball to Saggies’ bloop.

Springer walked to lead off the fourth, stole second, advanced to third on Luques’s single and scored on Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s double over the left field wall. Spencer Horwitz then hit a sacrifice fly ball to left. Kirk’s single to right gave Toronto a 3-2 lead and extended his hitting streak to nine games.

Winn started the seventh inning with a double to right-center and moved to third on a grounder. Winn moved too far from home plate and was tagged out when Goldschmidt hit the ball to third baseman Guerrero.

Genesis Cabrera allowed Saggies to hit a home run to left with one out in the eighth inning, tying the game at 3. Third hit in the major leagues.
