Sept 14 (Askume) – World number one Iga Swiatek has withdrawn from the Korea Open due to fatigue, tournament organisers told reporters on Friday.
Defending champion and US Open finalist Jessica Pegula also withdrew from the WTA 500 in Seoul with a rib injury.
Polish player Swiatek in JuneWon bronze at the French Open and the Paris Olympics , but lost in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open to Pegula.She also withdrew from the Canadian Open last month, citing fatigue.
Former Wimbledon champion and world No. 4 Elena Rybakina also missed the Korea Open with a back injury, while US Open semifinalist Emma Navarro withdrew due to a schedule change.
The Korea Open will be held from September 16 to 22.
