September 14 – Gio Urcera and Jorge Soler each hit two-run homers in the second inning, giving the host Atlanta Braves a 6–2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday.

Atlanta’s Matt Olson had an RBI double in the first inning and Michael Harris II also had a double in the eighth inning.

Marcell Ozuna had three hits and recorded the 1,500th shutout of his career.

Soler and Whit Merrifield each had two hits for the Braves (80-67), who remained one game behind the New York Mets for the National League’s final wild card. The Mets (81-66) beat the Philadelphia Phillies 11-3 on Friday.

Braves rookie Spencer Schwellenbach (6-7) allowed two runs on four hits in six innings to get the win. Pierce Johnson, Josh Jimenez and Reisel Iglesias pitched scoreless innings to end the game.

Miguel Rojas hit a solo homer in the third inning and Tommy Edelman had an RBI single in the fourth for the Dodgers (87-60), who have lost their last four games.

Atlanta struck early as Soler had a single in the first inning, moved to second on a second single, and scored on Olson’s double to the right corner.

The Warriors performed strongly in the second half and increased their lead to 5-0.

Orlando Arcia homered to start the inning, then Urshela singled to left center field off Landon Knack (2-4) to make it 2-4. It was Urshera’s sixth home run of the season and his first since Aug. 13 against the Detroit Tigers.

The game didn’t end there for Atlanta, as after Merrifield’s single, Soler sent a 1–0 Knicks curve ball over the wall in left field. Soler’s home run was his 18th of the season and first since August 28.

Nix lost the game after giving up five runs on seven hits in two innings.

Rojas beat Schwellenbach’s fastball to left and over the wall to put Los Angeles on the scoreboard, 3–1. Edelman’s RBI single in the fourth increased the Braves’ lead to 5–2.
